We will visit Diskit Monastery and the towering Buddha statue before heading to Hunder Sand Dunes, where we unwind with a unique camel ride and a golden-hour sunset. Hunder - Thang - Hunder (200 Kms) After breakfast, we ride along the Shyok river to Turtuk and then to Thang which is the border village along the Indo-Pakistan border. Soak in the beauty of the lush green fields lined with apricot trees with the Karakorum range in the backdrop. Explore Turtuk or Tyakshi village of the Baltistan region and taste the local food of the Balti people who look completely different from rest of the Ladakhis. Sumur to Pangong Tso (170 Kms) Today will be an early start as we continue the ride along the Shyok river to the breath-taking Pangong Tso. Pangong Lake is an endorheic lake spanning eastern Ladakh and West Tibet situated at an elevation of 4,225 m (13,862 ft). This pristine mosaic of myriad shades of blue, is said to be one of the highest brackish water lakes in the world. You have the evening free to go crazy with photoshoots. We will receive you at the airport and transfer you to our hotel, where the mountains immediately set the tone for the journey ahead. Overnight stay at Hotel in Leh Leh Local Sightseeing (80 Kms) After an early breakfast, we begin our day with a scenic ride to the stunning Sangam Confluence, where the Indus and Zanskar rivers meet—a perfect start to our Ladakh journey. We then visit the revered Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, followed by a stop at the Hall of Fame to understand the region’s rich military history. After lunch, we ride up to Leh Palace for panoramic views, and wrap up the day with a peaceful sunset at Shanti Stupa. Overnight stay at Hotel in Leh. Pangong Tso to Hanle (200 Kms) Get ready for some hardcore adventure as we ride to remote village of Hanle along Merak & Chusul. We first visit the historic Rezang La War Memorial, honoring the brave soldiers of the 1962 war. Our destination for the day is one of the historic villages of Ladakh, Hanle. Home to the 17th century Hanle monastery and world's 3rd highest optical telescope. The night sky seen here is the most beautiful and magical with millions of stars visible to the naked eye. Hanle - Umling La - Demchok - Hanle (180 Kms) Today will be adrenaline pumping day as ride to the world's highest Motorable road - Umling la (19,024 ft) thru some of the most deserted plains of Ladakh. We'll be able to spot few Himalayan Wild Asses - an endangered species, native to the high altitude plains of Himalayas. Spend few minutes at the World's Highest cafe and take a lot of pics to celebrate your achievement and also to make your friends jealous. Then we proceed to Demchok village at the India-China border and ride back to Hanle. Overnight stay in Hotel in Hanle. Hanle to Tso Moriri (160 Kms ) Today will be one more day of adventure riding. From Hanle, we take the unexplored road to Tso Moriri via Ryul Tso and Chumur. Located at an altitude of 4,522 m (14,836 ft), Tso Moriri is the largest of the high altitude lakes entirely within India. This 26 km long lake and the laid back village of Karzok are way less crowded than Pangong and is a very peaceful place to watch the sunrise or sunset. Overnight stay in Hotel / Camp in Karzok. Tso Moriri to Leh (220 Kms ) We begin our journey back to Leh, riding through vast plains and high-altitude terrain that feel almost otherworldly. On the way, we stop at Puga Hot Springs, where steaming geothermal vents add a unique touch to the landscape. We reach Leh by evening, closing the loop on an epic ride. Once in Leh, you will have some time to do any last minute shopping before we finish the tour with a farewell dinner. Apart from the mind-blowing landscapes and various vistas you get to see, there is also the excitement of riding a motorcycle in such inhospitable terrains and treacherous roads. Out of the many things that you need to be prepared for a trip to Ladakh, the most important thing is Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). Since we will be climbing very high altitudes in short span of time on multiple occasions and riding in border roads with politically sensitive regions, it is mandatory to follow the safety precautions set by the organizers for your own safety. Also, you are advised to get a health checkup done not more than 15 days before the start of the trip and provide a copy to the organizers. Other safety precautions will be shared during the briefing on Day 1 before the start of the tour. Please note that Ladakh is geographically located at a very sensitive part of the country and geo-political situations can change at any point of time. Hanle - Umling La - Hanle (180 Kms) Today will be adrenaline pumping day as ride to the world's highest Motorable road - Umling la (19,024 ft) thru some of the most deserted plains of Ladakh. We'll be able to spot few Himalayan Wild Ass - an endangered species, native to the high altitude plains of Himalayas. Spend few minutes at the World's Highest cafe and take a lot of pics to celebrate your achievement and also to make your friends jealous. Hanle - Tso Moriri (160 Kms) Today will be one more day of adventure riding. From Hanle, we ride to Tso Moriri aka the Mountain Lake in the Changthang plateau. The lake and surrounding area are protected as the Tso Moriri Wetland Conservation Reserve. The lake is at an altitude of 4,522 m (14,836 ft). It is the largest of the high altitude lakes entirely within India and entirely within Ladakh in this Trans-Himalayan biogeographic region. This 26 km long lake and the laid back village of Karzok are way less crowded than Pangong and is a very peaceful place to watch the sunrise or sunset. Overnight stay in Hotel / camp in Karzok. Karzok - Tso Kar - Sarchu (210 Kms) Rise early and watch the sun rise over the lake from your hotel room or swiss tent. After breakfast, we head towards the third lake which is part of the Ladakh lake circuit, Tso Kar . The Tso Kar Basin is a high-altitude wetland complex, consisting of two principal waterbodies: Startsapuk Tso, a freshwater lake and Tso Kar itself, a hypersaline, situated in the Changthang region of Ladakh. If we are lucky, we will be able to spot few some endangered birds. From here, we head to Sarchu riding thru More plains, Lachung la, Naki la and the famous Gata Loops. From here we descend into Nubra valley and head to Diskit monastery. The view of the tall Chamba (Buddha) statue overlooking the Nubra valley is beautiful beyond words. Last stop for the day will be the sand dunes of Hundar. Take a ride on the Bactrian (Double humped) camel and watch the sun set over the mountain ranges. You need to hold an A or A2 or MCWG licence. We will advise you on the best tour type depending on your license and riding level. Do I need to pay a Deposit / Motorcycle insurance? A deposit is required from all pilots/riders. The deposit amount is stated in the Full Itinerary and depends on the tour destination. A representative from Twisted Trails Adventures or 3rd party bike rental company will carry out an inventory of your motorcycle with you before and after your motorcycle tour. The deposit may be retained if the motorcycle is damaged in any way or to cover the insurance excess in the event of an accident. What if I have to cancel my trip? If you decide to cancel the trip due to some unforeseen circumstances, you can find the details in our cancellation policy. Overnight stay in Chitkul in Swiss Tents / Guesthouse Chitkul - Nako ( 170 Kms) After a delicious breakfast, you ride to Reckong Peo which is one of the main town in Kinnaur. A short ride from here, you reach Kalpa from where we get the glimpse of the holy Kinnaur Kailash mountain. From here, you ride along the Sutlej River till we cross over the Khab Sangam bridge, following which the road follows the Spiti River to Nako. Watch the evening sunset from top of a nearby hill overlooking Nako lake. Overnight stay at Hotel in Nako Nako - Kaza (170 Kms) Today's first stop will be at Nako Helipad for a quick photoshoot. Then you visit the Gue Monastery: Home to 500-years-old Indian Mummy of a Buddhist monk. Then proceed to Tabo, one of the ancient villages with a well-maintained monastery. Post lunch, head to Dhankar to get an areal view of the river confluence. From here, we do a quick run to the Mud village in Pin Valley and then head to Kaza. Overnight stay in Hotel at Kaza. Kaza - Langza – Hikkim – Komik – Kaza ( 80 Kms) After breakfast, visit the world famous Key/Ki Monastery which is around 1000 years’ old. It is situated at a height of 13,668 feet and was founded by a disciple of the famous Atisha, in the 11th century CE. Then ride to Langza and to the highest village in Asia, Komik, which literally translates to ‘Eye of a snow cock’, which is situated at a height of 4513 metres. Later, ride to Hikkim and visit the world’s highest post office in the world and send a postcard to your friends and family anywhere in the world. If lucky, you can even meet the postmaster and hear his stories. In the evening, visit the Kaza market. Overnight stay in Hotel at Kaza Kaza – Losar – Kumzum la – Chandratal lake ( 100 Kms ) Ride to one of the most photogenic places of the Spiti Valley – the Chandratal Lake after paying tribute to the local goddess, “Kuzum Mata” on top of the Kunzum pass. If the conditions are favourable, you'll take a detour and visit the Asia's highest suspension bridge above 4500 ft - Chicham bridge before reaching Chandratal for the night. You’ll stay in state of the art tents in the Himalayas and spend the evening gazing at the Milky Way and the millions of stars on a clear night. Overnight stay in Swiss Tents at Chandratal Chandratal Lake – Atal tunnel – Manali ( 110 Kms) This day's ride will be the toughest and it will test your off-road riding skills. First stop will be at Batal for a cup of tea at a small dhaba run by a beautiful old couple. After tackling few water-crossings, you'll ride through the newly opened Atal tunnel and return to Manali. In Manali, you are free to explore the ancient temples like Vashisht Kund, Hidimba Mandir, Manu temple and Cultural Museum. For the daredevils who love water-sports, you can try White-water rafting in Beas river. Overnight stay in a Hotel at Manali Manali – Chandigarh ( 310 Kms) This will be the last day of the ride as you come down the mountains to reach Chandigarh. Return the bikes. With this, the Tour of Spiti officially comes to an end. Chandigarh - Arrival Arrive at the pre-booked hotel in Chandigarh. You will be received by the Tour leader. Collect the bikes followed by Tour briefing. You are free to explore the beautiful organized city dotted with numerous parks. Overnight stay at Hotel in Chandigarh Chandigarh to Narkanda ( 175 Kms ) Early start from the hotel and you start riding towards the Himalayas. You cross the beautiful hill-station named Chail which boasts of having the highest cricket ground in the world and ride through Apple and Cherry orchards to the reach Narkanda. Overnight stay at Hotel in Narkanda Chandigarh - Fly back TIts time to say goodbye to the rest of the team and head back home. The trip has come to an end but we hope the memories and the friendship made during this ride will last for a lifetime. With this, the Tour of Spiti officially comes to an end. Arrive at Gangtok, Sikkim Check-in to hotel in Gangtok. Day 2. Gangtok - Local sightseeing Pick up the bikes and head out for local sightseeing in and around Gangtok. Choose from a variety of spots like Gangtok Ropeway, Tashi View point, MG Marg, Ban Jhakri Falls etc Day 3. Gangtok to Lachen (125 Kms) Ride / Drive to one of the most beautiful and scarcely populated towns of Sikkim. Singhik view point, Seven Sisters waterfalls & Naga waterfalls are some of the sights on the way to Lachen. Day 4. Lachen - Lachung (180 Kms) Wake up early and head put to the high-altitude Gurudongmar lake which is sacred to Hindus, Buddhists and Sikhs. Enjoy the view of the snow-covered peaks from close to the Tibet border. Then head back via Chopta valley and Thangu to reach the hotel in Lachung by sunset. Day 5. Lachung - Yumthang - Gangtok (215 Kms) Ride to Yumthang valley aka Valley of flowers which is located at an altitude of 11,800 ft and happens to be the grazing ground for Yaks in Summer. Few other interesting spots in this region are Bheema falls and Hot springs. At additional cost, a short trip to Zero point which is at an altitude of 15,300ft and very close to the China border can be arranged. Day 6. Gangtok - Nathang (75 Kms) This day we first visit the Tsomgo Lake where one can take a ride on colorfully decorated Yaks, followed by a visit to Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir which is dedicated to a former Indian Soldier. Later visit the Nathula pass which was part of the older Silk Route and climb the steps to Indo-China border. Day 7. Nathang - Zuluk - Gangtok (120 Kms) Ride the challenging 32 hair-pin bends on the serpentine road to Zuluk and enjoy the scenic landscape from Thambi View point. This will be the last leg of the adventure as we head back to the hotel in Gangtok. Day 8. Gangtok - Bhagdogra Airport Like all good things, this day brings the end of the tour. Check-out from the hotel after breakfast and take the shuttle to the Bhagdogra airport in West Bengal.
